OUR STORY

FINELY TUNED CRAFT BEER®

Tennessee Brew Works is an independently owned and operated craft brewery that opened in 2013 with a mission to create high quality craft beer that pays homage to the land, traditions, and culture of Tennessee.

Tennessee Brew Works proudly introduced the state’s first All-Tennessee grain beers in 2018 with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture.

Our all-Tennessee grain State Park Blonde Ale is the official beer of the Tennessee State Parks and benefits the TSP Conservancy for the preservation of the state’s 57 State Parks (Savage Gulf State Park just opened).

We brew beers with integrity, using only quality natural ingredients and source them from local farms whenever possible. Tennessee Brew Works is owned and operated by folks in Tennessee.

OUR MOTTO

We work hard to create high quality craft beer that makes Tennessee proud. Our culture places importance on family, friends, and community, and we hope you’ll be a part of it.

OUR PURPOSE

We are proud to call the great state of Tennessee home to the Tennessee Brew Works brewery and taproom, where we create our "finely tuned craft beer." With fine traditions in many things including music, spirits and agriculture we hope to capture the essence of the land and culture in all of our brews.

We make considerable efforts to source our raw materials from local farmers, including the grains used for two of our best-selling beers - State Park Blonde, Southern Wit® - and seasonal beer, Walk the Lime®. We proudly enjoy partnerships with Murfreesboro’s Batey Farms and Hillsboro’s Willis Farms for our grains, Delvin Farms (College Grove, TN), Strange Honey Farm (Del Rio, TN) and Bloomsbury Farm (Smyrna, TN) for many of our Tennessee-born adjuncts. All of our spent grains from brewing go to our friends at Southwinds Cattle Company (Adams, TN) to feed their prized Wagyu cows.

All of our beers utilize only quality ingredients, brewed with integrity. We cater to those that appreciate the difference.

BREWING TENNESSEE CRAFT BEER SINCE 2013

We all started as homebrewers and took a leap into something much greater. Our founder and president, Christian Spears, took an interesting path to his vocation in craft beer. He left his life in finance behind and spent time volunteering abroad in developing countries. He returned from his journey with a greater sense of purpose. Driven by his love for craft beer and with the help of some of his close friends and supporters, he founded Tennessee Brew Works.

Christian ultimately partnered with Colorado brewing veteran, Matt Simpson, who catapulted our brewing integrity to another level. Once a homebrewer himself, Matt began brewing professionally in 1994 and has enjoyed numerous awards, including World Beer Cup and GABF medals, throughout his career. The brew team has further developed with the ingenuity and dedication of lead brewer, Clark Brandon, who trained under the tutelage of Simpson and ultimately took the reigns of head brewer. He has cultivated a team of talented brewers including Matt Moore, Tyler Thompson, Johnny Jarvis and Chase Hayes. The team has garnered numerous awards for their beer, including a GABF medal for our “Farmer’s Beat” Saison in 2021.

Our sales and marketing team is led by director of sales, Thomas Gingerich. Leveraging his considerable hospitality experience, Thomas has extended the brand across Tennessee, providing innovations that have helped our smaller organization do big things. He is joined by his sales associate Charles Ray, and marketing and public relations expert Mayter Scott, to develop and represent the Tennessee Brew Works brand.

The taproom is led by our general manager Tim Quinn who boasts a strong hospitality background with extensive farm-to-table culinary experience and cocktail, wine and craft beer competencies. The kitchen is run by executive chef, Alex Leibow, who has curated the taproom’s celebrated craft beer-inspired food menu for many years. An industry veteran of fine-dining restaurants from Chicago to Los Angelos, he is joined in the kitchen by his talented sous chef, Kayla Bridwell, cooks Taneshia Buggs, Jeffrey Jackson and Reed Beasley. Our private events are managed by long-time industry professional, Nikki Huffstutler. She brings substantial hospitality experience with competencies in restaurant management and event organizing, including corporate gatherings and wedding planning.

We are located at 809 Ewing Ave, in the heart of Music City. For updates, please check back here, subscribe to our newsletter, and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X/Twitter.
