The Senie Hunt Project
May

The Senie Hunt Project

Senie Hunt is a self-taught, singer-songwriter and percussive guitarist adopted from Sierra Leone. He brought with him an inherent passion for West African rhythms and percussion. Senie used djembe drumming as a creative outlet to process the traumas of his early childhood during Sierra Leone’s Diamond wars.

Senie’s US family owned a world-instrument import business and shared his love of music. With the help of his adoptive father, an amateur guitarist, Senie began to play the instrument at the age of 7. He learned most of what he knows through watching footage of live concerts of early influencers, like Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, and The Allman Brothers. As he learned guitar, Senie’s rhythmic instincts led him to experiment with drumming on the guitar as a way to capture the sound and rhythms of his West African roots. His experimentation lead him to his later influences such as Tommy Emmanuel, Michael Hedges and Andy Mckee.

Johnny Stanec

Musically combining elements of Americana, folk-rock and the sounds of 90s Britpop, Johnny Stanec has been releasing music under his own name for much of the last decade.

A singer-songwriter from Youngstown, OH, and a seasoned live performer with over 600 shows under his belt, he has toured throughout the US and into Canada over the years.

He has been noted for his melodic song structures, clever lyrics and bright harmonies. Favorably compared to such artists as Tom Petty, Noel Gallagher and Ryan Adams; his musical influences are present in his work, while still creating his own unique sound. He has shared the stage with noted songwriters like Jesse Malin, Ike Reilly and Cory Branan; to name a few.

"What Stanec has managed to do is reinvent the folk rock motifs of the American greats. Stanec is blazing his own trail through this country’s sonic landscape. And right now, it feels like he’s in the great plains staring up at that big blue sky. Exactly what a rock record should be: honest, masterful, and wide open." (Glide Magazine)

The Senie Hunt Project

Charlotte Morris

Growing up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Charlotte Morris discovered her passion for music at a young age. “I’ve been playing instruments since I could walk and singing since I could talk, ”the singer/songwriter explains. As a child, her parents would take her to classical concerts and musical theatre productions, igniting a fire inside of young Charlotte’s soul. “Every family car ride was filled with folk classics, musical theatre or classical music–Joni Mitchell,Judy Collins,Simon & Garfunkel, and Peter, Paul & Mary were all the soundtracks of my childhood. ”After starting violin lessons at the age of four, Charlotte taught herself how to play the guitar, piano (and melodica),ukulele, banjo, acoustic bass guitar and mandolin, and began taking her songwriting seriously by the age of twelve. “Music grew from something I loved to something I needed. That sounds wildly dramatic, I know, but before then I had never felt able to fully express myself. ”Describing her unique style as genuine ,raw and emotional music with a purpose, Charlotte takes inspiration from female story-telling artists like Brandi Carlile, Sara Bareilles, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, and The Chicks; as well as style inspiration from bands like Delta Rae and FleetwoodMac.“These artists have really shown me that I don’t need to fit into a box. Everything I write is about my life. My lyrics are extremely personal and paint a very detailed picture about things I, and those I love, have experienced.”
